Registered with the Rhode Island Secretary of State on March 14, 1968, seven residents  of Narragansett and South Kingstown came together to form the Narragansett Pier Sportfishing  Association. The founding members on record with the Secretary of State are Gerald J. Jordan, Eugene Champlin, Donald B. Laity, Eskil Enquist, William T. Pixton, Pasquale Papa and Ken Adams.

Now, decades later, the Narragansett Pier Sportfishing Association still maintains a specific purpose: "To encourage, support, emphasize, maintain and preserve good fishing areas in the Town of Narragansett and close vicinity and to establish headquarters and relationships for this purpose" These fine gentlemen were clearly visionaries, and this is the reason so many avid anglers are members of Narragansett Pier Sportfishing Association today.

From the highly regarded Jerry Sylvester memorial trophy for the largest surf caught striped bass to the beloved Captain Andy Deangelo Memorial Award for stripers caught in Point Judith Pond, Anglers in NPSFA share a passion for fishing and and make considerable achievement in the angling world. Those achievements are recognized each year as members compete in monthly tournaments and year long tournaments for both salt and freshwater game fish.

Narragansett Pier Sportfishing Association is  Rhode Island's premier Sportfishing club originally founded in 1968. Members and perspective members meet on the first Wednesday of every month at Wildwood Outfitters in Wakefield Rhode Island at 7:00 PM where the talk is all about about  recent fishing trips, techniques,  and where fishing secrets are traded among members who focus on both surf and boat fishing. Monthly seminars are featured  at most meetings to help members sharpen their skills to  enjoy the great sport of Sportfishing even more than they they already do. The membership includes a diverse group of dedicated anglers who are among the elite striped bass surfcasters, serious offshore tuna and shark hunters, boat fishing striped bass enthusiasts and the "best of the best " tautog and fluke anglers. Several  fishing tournaments and various special events bring out the best of the members. Narragansett Pier Sportfishing Association is a small organization limited to only 75 active members who always welcomes new perspective members to our meetings. If you're thinking about  the possibility of becoming a member , contact any one of the members by email or phone,  or fill out a new member application and bring it with you to any regular monthly meeting. Tight lines!
